Hey y’all!
That dang cold really took me out last week. I was struggling to do the bare minimum all week and writing anything half sensical felt like a tall order. Feels like everyone I know is sick?? Must be a bug going around!!
Anyways, I have been working on my website everyday this week and I am feeling sooo freaking good!! I finally got past a scary hurdle — I connected Fontdue and Webflow. It made me feel very much like a hacker in any early 2000’s movie/show. I should’ve been wearing a black hoodie and sunglasses in a dark room for the occasion but I failed on that front!
It turns out that copying and pasting code into the right places is only difficult if you’re a skimmer like me. The second I took a breath and read the directions slowly, it worked!! Now I have fancy things like a cart, type testers and even a fun little character viewer (you’ll know what that is soon!).
At my current trajectory, I will be finished by next Friday. I only have the license page and the navigation bar to finish. That sounds like nothing but the nav bar is what made me lose steam in the fall. It kept breaking in mobile and the hamburger menu would open at the bottom of the page. My plan is to start from scratch next week and follow a tutorial. I feel more comfortable in Webflow than I did before so I have faith (and momentum)!!
My plan is to give y’all a sneak peak in my paid emails next week. Maybe it will be password protected but you can all check it out before the official release in my monthly email. As a lil reminder, I am releasing the site with just my dingbats to kick it off but I think Weightless will come very shortly after that. Socko will be featured but it will be linked to Overlap Type (Socko’s current overlord).
I am excited to not have to talk about or worry about the site anymore. I will just have it!! So crazy. I am going to write an in-depth website process post in the future so stay tuned for that!
Lastly, I got some sample hats in the mail and I’m not super happy with the print job. The company claimed they were screen printed but it looks more like a heat transfer. I am going to table these hats until after the website is done. I’m bummed because it was so hard to find a place that would do small runs. I haven’t received the embroidered ones yet though so maybe those will be better!!
5 Things I’m Into This Week
I got a shirt and bandana from Letter Person this week! It’s friend and cool guy, Kel Troughton’s, new venture. He’s putting out lots of great type merch and zines!
Since watching National Treasure & the DaVinci Code series, we started on Indiana Jones. We watched the first one and are hoping it’s only up from here!!
While I was sick, I finished the first Crescent City book (by Sarah J. Maas) and am well into the second. It’s really good so far!! I’m trying to pace myself but it’s difficult!!
Last summer, I had an elote pizza at Jupiter in Berkeley and it was so good that I have been craving it recently. I made a version at home, loosely following this recipe, and it was delicious!
I am sorry for this but I have had this song stuck in my head all week and it was popular amongst me and my friends when I was in 5th or 6th grade. I can’t stop listening to it!!
See ya next week!

Alex and I had a legendary karaoke set featuring Summer Girls a longggg time ago. Probably my most memorable karaoke experience
