Happy Friday y’all!
I am going to keep today’s email short and sweet because I’m back with another unsexy, website-centric email!!
I mentioned last week that I was going to be done by today but I am not quite finished yet. I’ve reached the last 1% and I am so eager to get it done. My goal is to wrap up the finishing touches this weekend so I can officially launch via the monthly email on Monday. It was my goal to get it done before then and it’s 100% possible.
For my extra special subscribers, I would like to give you a little preview!!
The pages above are basically finalized but I have to finish the nav bar at the top of the page so they’re not linked to each other yet. The homepage has a broken version of it so you can see the vision but that is all I need to finish by Monday!!
There’s an unanticipated hiccup of adding a cart button from FontDue that has pre-set styles that I need to override. It added a layer of complexity that is annoying but solvable! The dingbats page is how I’d like all my typeface pages to look going forward. I am really happy that Fontdue has features to embed into the page. The character view and type testers make it feel truly professional!!
5 Things I’m Into Right Now
Three students from my crash course classes have recently released fonts through Google Fonts and I couldn’t be more proud!! These projects aren’t from my class but they’re all so talented, I had to share!
Chisaokwu Joboson worked on Ojuju!
Taurai Valerie Mtake designed Madimi One!
Sarah Cadigan-Fried put out Micro 5 and Jacquarda Bastarda 9!
I finished the second Crescent City book and I can’t wait to get into the third one!!
I’ve been listening to the podcast, Two Hot Takes, lately. They read reddit stories and discuss their thoughts. It’s great to listen to while cleaning!
I have another Crash Course starting next week and I can’t wait to meet the new cohort! (Psst — there’s still a couple spots left!)
I got to see a Fog Lake show this week and it’s the perfect music for this rainy blustery weather we’re having.
See ya Monday!
