Hey y’all! Happy Friday!
I have something really big to share. I get to cross off another goal!!! I am speaking as part of a Type Electives lecture series and I’m so honored to be a part of it. At the end of next month (March 24th to be precise), I’ll be discussing my experience as a type design student and how I’ve navigated the journey to becoming a *real* type designer.
If that sounds even remotely interesting to you, please sign up!! (Did I mention it’s free?) I’d love to have some friends in the audience so I don’t absolutely panic when it the time comes. It’s going to be mostly about my feelings with some type design sprinkled in!
Please check out the other Type Electives lectures as well! It’s such a great line up.
Otherwise all is well in Libbie Land. My class is finishing up next week — my students are rocking my freakin’ socks off. Most of them claimed to be beginners but wow they look professional to me!!! We are putting together a class specimen that I will share with y’all soon.
Lastly, my website design is set(!!). Now it just needs content. I’m working on getting everything in there except the fonts that aren’t finished yet! I’m stoked though — it’s starting to feel real. Did I mention that my partner and I are also planning our wedding??? I have thought tendrils sprawling in a lot of directions at the moment but it’s all good things!
Could someone time travel back to 2015 (when this all started) and tell past Libbie that we’ve almost made it?! I could cry tbh!!
5 Things I’m Into Right Now
Making (gluten free) instant noodles but adding in a lot of fancy fixings like tofu, green onions, sometimes an egg, and chili crisp so I can be lazy and luxurious at the same time.
I am having a love/hate relationship with this song. It is so good to work to but it ultimately gives me 2010s cringe.
I got a heated mattress pad recently and it makes me feel like an egg cooking on a frying pan but I love it!! Northern California is deceptively cold!
OHno Type Co’s recent release, Casserole is really fun. Personally I am a fan of the dingbats and the script style.
I recently thrifted a digital camera with a boastful 4 megapixels and it is healing my inner teen!! It feels like film but without the trouble of getting film developed. And of course I decorated it!!
Love you & talk soon,
Libster
