Hiiiiiii,
It’s Friday!! I don’t know if anyone noticed, but it’s been a little quiet over here. I’ve been really busy over the last few weeks so I decided to give myself the chillest project possible this week. It’s Roundy Road part II y’all.
Roundy Road has always been a fave of mine. During week 10, I didn’t have time to make the caps so it sounded perfect for this week! It’s always a trip to get reacquainted with something you designed 18 weeks ago. First, I made some adjustments to the lowercase and reacquainted myself with how I handled the spacing. When I started adding the caps, I quickly realized that I would need to do something more playful and unusual. I mostly stuck to some upright italic forms but had to keep a couple letters boring like H and I. Overall, I’m pretty stoked on this one. I like to have a full set of caps and lowercase for a change!
My dream for this typeface is to be used by the most friendly and least scammy car mechanic’s branding. I could see it thriving in a lightly race car themed setting or piston rod lubricant packaging, tbh. It’s fun to make something that is from a lane I don’t normally design in (pun absolutely intended). I’m not totally sure what I’ll be working on next week! I’ll probably share some ideas on IG and y’all can help me decide! It always turns out better that way. :)
5 Things I’m Into This Week:
I started watching Ted Lasso this week and omg it’s so good!! Worth having yet another streaming service for.
I’ve been catching up on some of the Letterform Archive talks I’ve missed lately! You can find recordings here: https://vimeo.com/showcase/letterform-lectures I always learn something new!
Speaking of the Archive — they’ve extended their Type West application so if you didn’t have time to apply, you now have until the 14th! https://letterformarchive.org/education/
Finally caved and got a dog carrier for my little pup. Now I can carry him around like the tiny baby he is. <3
Making fancy toast with ricotta, cucumbers, and dill. Plus a little olive oil, and salt + pepper. It’s so delicious!
Be nice to yourself! You’re doing great!
