Hey everyone!
I have something extra special to share with you today! With the help of the extremely talented, Sophia Tai, Yolker has a color font in the family! It’s incredibly cool and incredibly fun!! It was always in the plan for Yolker to have a color version but I don’t know the first thing about making them so it never came to fruition. That is, until Sophia reached out asking to collaborate on a color font!
I am so excited that Yolker Color exists! Now you can get a version of Yolker with a nice thick outline, the whites filled in, and a sunshine yellow yolk! It’s exactly how I prefer to use Yolker — now with a lot less of a fuss! The cool thing about color fonts is that you can use a tool like DJR’s Color Font Customizer to change the color. If you wanted to make green eggs, à la Dr. Seuss, you could do that easily!
Color fonts also work for websites which means you don’t have to set the colors every time — you can just use the handy new colorful version!
Let’s get into some of the logistics for a sec because color fonts can be a little confusing at first! Here’s a little guide to using all the font files that come with Yolker Color:
OpenType SVG: Used primarily for Adobe programs
COLRv1: A smaller file size can be fun to use in tools like DJR’s Color Font Customizer
COLRv1 + OpenType SVG: Used for the web
Here is a link to a more in-depth description of what you can do with color fonts via Sophia’s release of Foldit (her super cool variable color font through Google Fonts!).
Finally, I want to give a big shout out to Sophia! She was super fun to work with and I’m feeling so blessed that she collaborated with me on such a fun addition to Yolker! Please check out her work here and/or follow her on instagram! She also teaches classes on color fonts so definitely keep an eye on her IG for those!!
And because you’re all so dear to me, use this code for 20% off the whole Yolker family until 4/18: YOLKERCOLOR20
Have a great weekend!
Libbie
