TDN Update 005
10 weeks in and only eternity to go!!
I can’t believe we’re already on the 5th installment of my foundry updates. I have the most random smattering of things for you today. I didn’t get a chance to overhaul anything like last time but progress is happening nonetheless!
First and foremost, I finally understand how Cargo Collective works! I didn’t renew my old SquareSpace site so my url has been broken for a couple weeks. This week I designed a simple landing page until I get my site up and running. It probably won’t be live when this goes out because I’m still waiting for the dang DNS settings to update!! But here’s a lil screenshot. <3
I spent a little more time tweaking Backflip, but the noticeable change is that I finally fixed that ugly S!! Now I just have to replicate it 7 more times.
We all know how much I love the font, Mr Rightside, from my 52 Fonts Project. I spent some time updating a few letters from the existing letter set because I’m thinking about expanding it! Mr Rightside definitely deserves a fully functional family. Friend and cool guy, Kel Troughton, mentioned a while back that expanding the strokes until they overlap and get all lumpy could be cool. Like a weight axis but weirder!! I also had the idea this week that it might be interesting to try to make a version that works at smaller sizes. That would involve changing the complexity of the lines to be legible when it’s scaled down. I haven’t had time to try them out yet but feel free to weigh in!! This font could go in 100 different directions.
Lastly, licensing is in the works for me and my friends which is so exciting!! A lawyer has been secured and decisions have been made. This means that I’ll actually have legit licensing for once! I’m probs the only one who thinks this is exciting but proper licensing was a big scary hurdle that I have been dreading since the conception of TDN.
5 Things I’m Into Lately
Here are the halloween costumes I made for Alex and I! I sewed them out of vintage bedsheets, knitted some collars, and made the hats for us. If there’s ever a Halloween that I don’t go all out for, check my pulse!!!
Megan Thee Stallion’s album, Traumazine, has been on repeat while I’m working lately. She’s just sooo good!
I watched House of Dragons on HBO as it was coming out and I’m dying to know what happens next so I’m reading Fire & Blood by GRRM. It’s a bit like a history book (snoozefest vibes) but I’m trying to power through. I can’t wait until 2024 to find out!
Now that the weather has turned, I have been making miso soup and serving it over rice. It makes it a little more filling while it’s just as cozy and delicious!
Here’s another sweater I made! I’m trying to share more of my knits with the internet. I hope it’s not annoying <3
This is embarrassing to admit but I just found this button today… Let me know what you think!! I want to hear from ya!
